Level 1 and 2 Inspections

We roll our sleeves up and inspect selected vehicles in your fleet. We try to find patterns in the violation discovered i.e, brakes, hoses, etc., so we can focus to those areas for greater impact to your maintenance scores. We set up these inspections so drivers and mechanics can watch us as we perform a certified CVSA Level one or two inspection and ask questions on areas they don’t understand. We then have the drivers and mechanics do their own CVSA inspection as we critique and train during observation.

We use our own consortium so we have hands-on involvement when Drug and Alcohol testing is needed. This becomes especially important when accidents happen. We can also ensure proper drug and alcohol testing percentages are within tolerance.

We have created our own web based application that keeps up with your company's drivers, maintenance files, training requirements, expired CDLs, medical cards, medical waivers, clearing house queries, MVR annual updates, HM cargo tank testing, US DOT HM registration, General awareness testing, preventive maintenance intervals such as oil changes, etc.

Accident Reduction

We believe our driver training is second to none since we have so much experience in what causes CMV crashes. Sometimes it is simple things that are missed or forgot about like keeping your mirrors and glass clean. Actual accidents that happened during our careers are used to train with. We all see the commercials that are aimed at trucking companies who people have had an accident with. These lawyers are like cartoons, but assure you they are real and vicious.

Safety Rating Upgrades

One of the first things we check when a trucking company contacts us is their safety rating. Once we have agreed to do business we go about getting their safety rating upgraded. Out of all the things we do, upgrading a company’s safety rating is what we receive the most praise about. But it is the total accumulation of everything else that allows us to write up our corrective action plan and send this in requesting the rating be changed. If your safety rating is unsatisfactory or conditional you might want to give us a call as we can cut your insurance premiums way down.

Audit Prep and Representation

If you decide to do business with Lone Star DOT we will prepare your company for FMCSA audits. Remember if an audit is imminent there is only so much we can do to mitigate it. We are not miracle workers. But for those companies that have time for us to prep we can cut your violations way down and find new violations before the lawyers or auditors do. We have saved a few companies from catastrophe by doing this. I would not take the risk of doing this by yourself.

Hazardous Materials

Does your Hazardous Materials (HM) program need to be looked at by a professional? The highest fines in the trucking industry are usually ones that involve Hazardous Materials. Lone Star DOT will audit your HM program. We check shipping papers, placards, packages, labels, compatibility, emergency response guides (ok the list goes on for what seems forever) for correctness and ensure your employees have the right HM training required by both the PHMSA and FMCSA. HM is difficult for most to understand and interpret. We have worked with HM our entire career.
